Interpon Auto Coatings for Alloy Wheels

Depending upon the design, wheels normally receive either a three-coat system (primer, basecoat, clear-coat) or a single-coat over a polished surface. Akzo Nobel has more experience with providing powder coatings to the wheel industry than any other coating supplier.

A complete line of wheel coatings, both liquid and powder, are being supplied to wheel manufacturers throughout the world. A family of primers has been designed to meet the manufacturing and application requirements of the different wheel producers. While supplying a variety of liquid basecoats, both solvent and waterborne, the automotive specialists have also developed a full range of metallic powder coatings for wheels. Akzo Nobel continues to develop new clear coats for this market, with a low cure waterborne and a clearer, more forgiving, acrylic powder coating being the latest offerings. Polyester powder coating clears are also being supplied to the industry, as well as a specialized primer for vacuum metallization.
