Trend Range 2010

As the world's largest coatings company, no one has more expertise in colour and colour trends than AkzoNobel. Home to the Aesthetics Centre, our in house colour and trend experts, we are ideally placed to anticipate and predict movements in trends affecting colour and hence coating choice.

We at AkzoNobel have drawn on the expertise of the Aesthetics Centre to produce this, the Powder Coatings Annual Trend Range.

Our selection is inspired by the Colour Envelope # 8 - a tool which describes colour trend direction. This is an annual publication developed by the Analogue Group - an international group of designers and architects who meet annually to discuss and predict colour trends - and produced by the Aesthetics Centre.

The theme for this year's Colour Envelope is 'Enabling' and is demonstrated across seven colour moods.

Sharing- At first glance this theme is reminiscent of early 20th century modernism but it unveils an essential shift to braver hues and tones as fresh as the concept "sharing".

Amateurism - This alludes to street markets, second hand textiles and youth culture. Low key shades with presence and integrity lend to a soft, real and comforting aspect to modern society.

Experiment
 - A family of closely related tones, both emotional and cerebral. The balance of art and science, love and understanding appear to be striking and yet familiar at the same time.

Responsive- This attitude is both ecological and 'earthy'. Organic shades of sand and earth with more intense natural pigments are the expressive combinations for harmonious contemporary living.

Illusion
- Subtle and understated. Their transparent airy nature allows them to recede, providing a gentle but sophisticated backdrop.

Bizarre - Highly unnatural. The power of collision creates richness and diversity that is sometimes volatile and ambiguous.

Unlimited - The colours of the unlimited are seriously optimistic. They embrace a wide spectrum of tones, hues and finishes.

The colour choices for our trend range have been influenced by these themes and trends in furniture design.
