The John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center
The Volpe Center, in Cambridge Massachusetts, is home to the United States Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration. Its vertical design welcomes visitors with a striking three-story glass facade. Awarded the LEED Platinum Certification, the center invites engagement offering glimpses into the life within, as an intentional symbol of transparency and openness. The glass and aluminum exterior are equipped with vertical fins that resemble aircraft components, protected by beautiful grey shades of Interpon D2525 and Interpon D3000 powder coating to ensure long-lasting durability. These fins serve as solar shades, reducing glare and enhancing energy efficiency while giving the building a distinctive appearance.
