Monumental in scale, 35,000 square meters, five floors including prayer halls, auditorium and restaurant as well as galleries and a water-filled courtyard, it nevertheless feels light and airy. This is partly due to its watery setting and partly to the luminous dusty pink French limestone. It's Pei's last major commission, what a swansong.
