Lancaster University School of Mathematics (LUSOM)

At the Lancaster University School of Mathematics, a staggered vertical arrangement of bronze-toned rainscreen cladding gives the building facade movement and depth. Undulating panels create shifting shadow lines across the elevation throughout the day. The building uses superdurable Interpon D Anodic in Steel Bronze 2, a color in the architectural powder coating range, on its aluminum cladding panels. The finish heightens the play of light and shadow, catching highlights across the face of each panel while deepening in tone at the returns. It also brings warmth and texture to the surface, sitting naturally alongside the cooler tones of glazing and surrounding masonry to unify the building’s material palette into a cohesive, high-quality finish.
